The Georgian Government Administration building is on Wednesday illuminated with a special visual projection of the country’s national football team, marking the squad’s historic, first-ever qualification for a major international tournament with the defeat of Greece on Tuesday.
Dedicated to yesterday’s match, in which the Georgian team defeated Greece in the penalty shootout in the playoff final of the Euro 2024 at the Dinamo Arena stadium in Tbilisi, the installation with the message For the First Time in History reflects the emotions of the Georgian football players.
Earlier today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili sent an official submission to the country’s President to award the national football team, its coaches and the management of the national Football Federation with the state prize Medal of Honour.
The team will face Turkey on June 18 in their first match at the European tournament, with the Group also involving Portugal and the Czech Republic.
